Mini Reliability Mini Cooper Reliability/repair Question.?

Mini Cooper reliability/repair question.? - mini reliability

I think the purchase of a 2004 Mini Cooper S, the only problem is that my father, the "Financing" refers to me the possibility of less than stellar reliability. I have a friend who works in a shop of his uncle as a mechanic. I have not spoken with him, but I wonder whether it was likely that repairs would be much cheaper than routine maintenance, and take it to your shop instead of a BMW / MINI dealerships.

I think it would be much cheaper to call to your business. I have a Mini-03 and not to the dealer, because I is not a little more than 2 hours drive from my house care, then it worth the drive.

But it also depends on the dealer .. I moved and my (current) nearest dealer is a joke, he tried to cost me $ 60 for wiper blades (rubber part only), but I called my old dealer and send them to me for under $ 15 including shipping.

In any case, I have mixed feelings about the service dealer ... but I think ultimately it would be better to stay away from the bank.

A friend has one and your insurance is high because a recent study has shown that compared one or two small "Fender Bender" in a parking lot and the car as if it could be damaged on impact, both on an average size vehicle. For me, says she can not secure on the road or highway. I think they are sweet and miles per gallon of gasoline is high, but I must continue my big SUV with steel bars on the doors, and guards. If you implement that is as safe as you get in a car IMO.
I also live in a fairly small town, considered to be mainly of upper middle class or higher, and there are a lot of Mini Coopers here, but I see an unusually large number of them trawling on the street or sitting on the side of the road and just yesterday, two men pushed one of the crossroads. Coincidence? Who knows, but I see some reports on the consumption of cars, Car and Driver, a recommendation about a year ago. My friend is a new and loves, but it is concerned about the safety standards of the shock.

Any repair or maintenance work in a machine shop will be cheaper than a BMW / Mini.
